Rep Drazkowski Authors Firearms Protection Act
ST. PAUL – In an effort to protect law-abiding gun owners from potentially overreaching legislation from the federal government, State Representative Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) has authored HF419, the Minnesota Firearm Protection Act.
“While Democrats are authoring bills to attack our 2nd Amendment, this bill will protect it from any efforts approved by the federal government,” Drazkowski said.
Under Drazkowski’s bill, any agent who attempted to enforce any new federal anti-gun laws in Minnesota would face a felony charge. Punishment would be up to five years imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.
Minnesota is the 17th state in which a similar bill has been authored by state legislators who dedicated to protecting the Constitutional freedoms of their constituents.
Drazkowski concludes that in addition to being unconstitutional, the efforts of Democrats to grab guns from law abiding gun owners will not help anything. “Those anti-gun legislative efforts arise out of an ideology that has no regard for the 2nd Amendment. I am proud of the many legislators that have stood with me to protect this fundamental liberty,” Drazkowski said.
